Providence College (PC), a four-year, Roman Catholic and Dominican liberal arts institution of higher education, seeks a talented, visionary leader to serve as the college’s Dean of the School of Continuing Education (SCE). The new dean will be responsible for building and strengthening the SCE in alignment with PC’s Strategic Plan by designing and implementing new classroom and online programming, developing new markets, and creating flexible options for continuing education that meet the needs of the region.

PC’s School of Continuing Education provides academic programs designed to meet the educational needs of adult students. The SCE offers eight bachelor’s degree programs, two associate’s degree programs, and eight certificate programs in a broad range of liberal arts and professional disciplines. SCE also offers two joint master’s of education degree programs, one in Urban Education and Teacher Certification and another in Mathematics and Teacher Certification.
Reporting to the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and a member of the provost’s senior team, the dean is responsible for ensuring that the School of Continuing Education advances PC’s reputation, mission and strategic priorities. PC seeks an entrepreneurial leader for the school who will expand on its extraordinary history and curricular strengths to deliver outstanding, innovative programs that serve a diverse adult student population and employer base in Providence and the surrounding region. To succeed, the dean must be an academic innovator with strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative working style, marketing and business development skills, and the ability to develop productive relationships with campus and external constituents. An advanced degree from an accredited academic institution, higher education experience, substantive successful experience in an administrative leadership role, and experience with adult and continuing education are required. A doctoral degree and faculty experience are preferred.
