Cleveland Institute of Art - Vice President of Enrollment Management & Marketing

OH, Cleveland

The Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA), one of the nation’s leading accredited independent colleges of art and design, seeks a creative, energetic, transparent and strategic leader to serve as vice president for enrollment management and marketing.

For 138 years, the Cleveland Institute of Art has been an educational cornerstone in Cleveland, Ohio, empowering individuals to build fulfilling careers and to enrich and advance the world. With 637 full-time students and 645 total students, CIA offers a personalized educational experience with the benefits of a larger institution. The curriculum is based on a depth of learning in each major combined with liberal arts classes woven throughout all four years. Students choose from 15 majors and live and work in Cleveland’s University Circle, one of the country’s most unique cultural centers – recently named by Forbes Magazine as one of the ten prettiest communities in the country. CIA graduates are competitive as studio artists, designers, photographers, animators, contemporary craftsmen and educators, and they change the way we look at the world.

Reporting directly to President Grafton J. Nunes and serving as a member of the executive cabinet, the vice president will provide leadership to the admissions, financial aid and marketing functions to proactively and strategically anticipate and respond to enrollment challenges while keeping the experiences of prospective students ever at the forefront. The Institute aims to elevate its visibility through more vigorous and strategic outreach on a national and international scale. Working collaboratively with other members of the CIA leadership team, the vice president will assume broad leadership within the institution, providing the vision, strategy and technical and operational direction to enhance the Institute’s current and future enrollment.

Creativity matters! The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of emerging trends and promising practices in recruitment, admissions, financial aid, marketing and retention as well as a proven track record of creating a conceptual framework for enrollment management that can respond to the changing landscape of higher education and an institution’s needs. Evidence of leading with integrity, inclusiveness, energy, optimism and a team-oriented philosophy and skill in shaping a culture that supports and makes possible innovative thought and creative solutions are valued. It will be important for the vice president to possess strong analytical abilities and an aptitude for enhancing systems and structures to harness data and technology and facilitate enrollment planning in order to meet institutional goals and raise the reputation of CIA across the nation and throughout the world. A passion for arts education and commitment to the mission of CIA and the education of the artist as a creator and important contributor to the global and civil society are essential for success.
