Colonial Williamsburg Foundation - Executive Director of Development Services
The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (CW) is America’s premier, living history institution. Located at the birthplace of American democracy, CW provides historical interpretation, intellectual resources, archaeology, preservation and restoration for some of the country’s most important treasures and is a convener of conversations about how the nation’s past is prologue for its present and future.
As Colonial Williamsburg prepares to celebrate its centennial and the country celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026, the institution seeks an Executive Director of Development Services to lead, inspire and manage a team of ten business intelligence, gift processing and donor records professionals; serve as the subject matter expert; and elevate the Foundation to industry best practices. The executive director will report to The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Chief Development Officer.
Colonial Williamsburg boasts the support of several of the nation’s most generous and thoughtful philanthropists. Raising in excess of $75 million per annum over the past several years, the Foundation’s development program is mature and productive. The executive director will align the technology, infrastructure and human capital to optimize the Foundation’s fundraising and engagement success including the conversion of the current prospect management system to Tessiturra. The executive director will support the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation staff with training and education resources to support philanthropic goals and assure objectives can be met, design dashboards and analytics systems and ensure data integrity is preserved through end user education and best practices research and data collection.
The candidate will possess broad knowledge of professional practices and procedures with development data management and reporting in order to guide development staff, make decisions about how to address data and reporting needs, ensure that data and reporting needs are fulfilled, provide on-time and accurate coordination between development staff and technical teams and assess and mitigate risk. Colonial Williamsburg seeks an executive director with progressively responsible management and leadership experience at an organization of equal or greater complexity.
