Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine - Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance

CA, Pasadena

In partnership with WittKieffer, Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM) has initiated a nationwide search for an innovative and accomplished administrator to serve as its Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance. This is a unique opportunity for a respected and experienced administrative/financial leader who understands the ever-changing state of medical education and appreciates the need to transform it to meet the needs of today’s patients, students, faculty, and community of physicians/providers. This leader will work as an integral member of a team of 14 academic executives, who together in 2020 launched an extraordinary new medical school designed to offer much more than a conventional medical education. KPSOM has distinguished itself from other medical schools since its inception and is based on a broad vision of health, employs cutting edge technology, and offers substantial student support.

The Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance (SVP) will report to the Founding Dean and CEO, Mark Schuster, MD, PhD, and have significant independent responsibility for planning and managing services associated with the ongoing and evolving operations of the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. The SVP leads the school’s administrative staff and oversees the activities of its administrative offices and financial operations. The SVP will facilitate key administrative linkages among KPSOM, the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, as well as linkages among KPSOM students/faculty. The SVP will collaborate with the Dean and other key internal and external leaders, including the KPSOM Board of Directors, and committees in decision making and management related to the above administrative functions. In addition, the SVP will be responsible for the design, implementation, and supervision of new administrative roles in the School of Medicine. The SVP will ensure that KPSOM operations and messaging are consistent with the strategic plan and synchronized with the vision and mission of the school.
