Through rigorous management education and research, SOM inspires students to cultivate their skills, lead with integrity, and serve others to promote a more just and sustainable economy. The School offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs and professional certificates through multiple modalities that encompass the for-profit, nonprofit, and government sectors. Graduates are prepared for inclusive management careers that reflect the evolving intersection of these three sectors. Among the school’s programs, the MBA for Entrepreneurship is ranked 21st, the MBA for Business is ranked 21st and the MBA for Marketing is ranked 26th in the 2022 U.S. News and World Report. The SOM programs are accredited through the AACSB, NACC, and NASPAA.

Reporting directly to Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Julia Chinyere Oparah, the dean will be joining the university after a yearlong and enterprise-wide strategic planning effort and will be charged with engaging the community in developing and implementing a compelling and innovative vision for the school’s future by: advancing a strategic SOM enrollment, marketing, and communications plan; building an inclusive and supportive SOM community and culture; advocating on behalf of the school internally and externally; and ensuring the school’s financial sustainability. In order to achieve these goals, the next dean will be expected to play a significant role in fundraising and establishing external partnerships. This is a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking leader with demonstrated experience building diverse, equitable teams who can envision the future, inspire the community, and position the school to adapt and innovate in a changing environment.

The next dean will be a champion for student, faculty, and staff success and inclusive excellence, while advocating for SOM and all of its programs. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated leadership in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and global engagement; a profound commitment and eagerness to embrace the Jesuit Catholic mission and core values; a deep understanding of the ideas and practice of social justice and education as a humanistic enterprise; and an excitement to reflect those values in one’s work. The dean must also understand the academic process for tenure-track and tenure faculty promotion.

An earned doctorate or terminal degree and a tenured appointment in a discipline appropriate to the school is desired. There is an openness to nontraditional candidates who bring an alternative combination of credentials and who, through previous experience and commitment to excellence in the study, teaching, and practice of management, would gain the credibility of faculty and external audiences.
