Memphis, TN –  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier research and treatment centers for pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases, is seeking an exceptional academic leader to serve as the next dean for its Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. This is an opportunity for a collaborative leader to inspire the next generation of biomedical leaders by leveraging the extraordinary academic resources and talent available at St. Jude. The dean is responsible for shaping a graduate education experience that promotes scholarship, innovation, and discovery across the organization and around the globe.

The Graduate School was founded in 2015 as a degree-granting body to train researchers, health care professionals, and leaders who will continue to advance the understanding and treatment of pediatric life-threatening diseases for patients far into the future. Drawing from world-class basic, translational and clinical research operations, coupled with mentorship from internationally renowned faculty and exceptional support and resources, the Graduate School offers three unique degree-granting programs: laboratory-based biomedical research, global pediatric health care, and clinical investigations. These courses capitalize on the hospital’s unique strengths and 60-year history. The Graduate School does not require extramural support, rather ongoing and future funding is provided for in the hospital’s long-term strategic plan. The Graduate School is in the process of obtaining Southern Association of Colleges and School Commission on Colleges, or SACSCOC, accreditation.

Reporting to the Graduate School Board of Trustees as the chief administrator for the graduate programs within the Graduate School, the dean leads and serves as advocate for postgraduate education. Together with the Graduate School administration and St. Jude department leadership and faculty, the dean shares responsibility for guiding and improving graduate education. The dean is also responsible for implementing the priorities identified by the Board of Trustees. In addition, the role includes leadership, recruitment and admission, scholarship promotion, mentoring, administration and planning.
