The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UW Oshkosh) seeks an energetic, creative, equity-minded individual who is committed to the success of students, faculty and staff, adept at nurturing strong relationships and a visionary leader as the next provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. 

UW Oshkosh serves 13,500 undergraduate and graduate students making it the largest of 11 comprehensive universities in the University of Wisconsin System that also includes two doctoral institutions and a statewide Extension. Founded in 1871, UW Oshkosh offers more than 110 associate, baccalaureate, graduate and doctoral degree programs organized within five outstanding colleges (Business, Education and Human Services, Letters and Science, Nursing and Honors) and Online and Continuing Education, which encompasses continuing education and online degree programs for adult non-traditional students. In 2018, UW Oshkosh joined with the two-year campuses of UWO Fond du Lac and UWO Fox Cities as the result of a UW System-wide merger and is now a thriving, three-campus university.

UW Oshkosh’s NCAA Division III athletic program is among the very best in the nation, and the university serves as an arts and cultural center as well as an educational program and services space to the scenic Fox River Valley region of central northeast Wisconsin. The over 180-acres of the three campuses is strategically located in a thriving economic and cultural corridor with a combined population in excess of 750,000. This corridor consists of a cluster of dynamic, growing, mid-sized communities that stretch from Milwaukee to Green Bay.

The incoming provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs will report directly to the chancellor and be an integral and vital part of UW Oshkosh’s leadership team. The provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs will provide a strategic vision for the future of education at UW Oshkosh, readily identifying opportunities to increase student enrollment in a rapidly changing higher education landscape. The provost and VCAA will be an authentic and passionate advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion across student, faculty and staff communities. This leader will champion student and faculty success and foster a culture of shared governance on campus.

The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of leadership, accomplishment and managerial acumen from their chosen profession. The provost and VCAA will be experienced in the processes of comprehensive academic planning, accreditation, strategic planning and assessment and be well versed in implementing best practices in student learning. The next provost and VCAA will have a strong commitment to UW Oshkosh’s mission as a public, research-enhanced comprehensive university with a culture of shared governance and will be committed to maintaining a climate of collaboration and transparency at all levels of the university community. Preferred experience includes an earned doctorate or other terminal degree from a regionally accredited university coupled with a distinguished record of performance as a faculty member to include teaching and scholarship records that are appropriate for an appointment as a tenured full professor in one of the university’s academic departments.
