Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania—a premier liberal arts and engineering college—seeks a strategic, highly knowledgeable, and energetic leader to drive admissions strategies and lead a talented and committed team of professionals. The dean of admissions will play a vital role in promoting and strengthening the College’s compelling mission through enrollment of exceptional students from across the country and around the world.
Reporting to the vice president for enrollment management, the dean of admissions will lead the Office of Admissions for the College. The dean will serve as a key member of the enrollment management leadership team, working with the vice president for enrollment management, the director of financial aid, and the associate director for enrollment analytics to develop strategies and initiatives to identify, secure, and strengthen Lafayette’s market position as a leading liberal arts and engineering college. Substantial experience with contemporary enrollment management practices and a demonstrated deep knowledge of market trends in higher education are essential.
The dean will supervise, manage, motivate, and develop a team of 16 highly skilled admissions professionals and support their development as managers of the various work functions required to run a 21st-century admissions office. The position oversees an operating budget of $1.5 million. Lafayette views enrollment management as “cradle to endowment,” and as such, the dean will continually engage with the College’s diverse constituents to create feedback loops that inform Admissions of student success and belonging challenges as well as prepare downstream offices for the evolving priorities and needs of incoming classes.
Lafayette College is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 40 liberal arts colleges in the nation. Even in that category, it is distinctive in that it also is home to an exceptional accredited engineering program. The College meets 100% of demonstrated need for admitted students and has eliminated loans for students whose total annual family income is less than $150,000. Boasting a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, the College is home to more than 2,700 undergraduate students from 44 states and 60 countries who study and live on the College’s beautiful 340-acre campus, located in Easton, Pennsylvania. The campus overlooks the Delaware River, where opportunities abound for hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, and exploring nature, while both New York City and Philadelphia are each only an hour’s drive away from Easton.
