The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) seeks an accomplished and strategic executive to serve as its next Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a world-class medical destination at the forefront of transformative science, medicine, education and patient care. The campus encompasses the University of Colorado health professional schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health and the Graduate School, more than 60 centers and institutes, and two nationally ranked independent hospitals, UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado, which are located on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus, where more than two million adult and pediatric patients are cared for each year. The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus delivers life-changing treatments, patient care and professional training, and conducts world-renowned research fueled by over $690 million in research funding.
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, Terri C. Carrothers, the CHRO will have full strategic and operational responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day aspects of human resources. The leader will be charged with accelerating and elevating human resources strategies and practices that focus on excelling employee engagement, recruitment, retention, organizational and performance management, compensation, leadership development and succession planning.
The CHRO will be an engaging and visible leader who will focus on ensuring the organization is prepared for future workforce needs. The CU Anschutz community would welcome an innovative executive to serve as the next CHRO, who leads with humility and with a heart of service. A record of successful leadership in a decentralized environment and the ability to engage effectively with a multigenerational workforce will be essential.
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of ten years of diverse and progressive relevant human resources leadership for a major HR function in a complex organization. A master’s degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, health administration, law, the social sciences or a closely related field is required. However, candidates with a related bachelor’s degree and long-term management-level human resources experience will also be considered. SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Professional in HR (SPHR) certification is preferred.
