University of Hull - Faculty of Health Sciences - Associate Dean Research, Faculty of Health Sciences
United Kingdom, Hull
Education - Dean/Senior Education
This is an exciting opportunity for an established and outstanding researcher with knowledge of the health care arena to join us in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Hull to support the continued growth of research. The Faculty of Health Sciences boasts a strong record of research and teaching in this area and well-developed relationships with the NHS and healthcare providers in the region and nationally to stimulate future developments and champion evidence-based care.
Now is a stimulating time to join the academic community of health researchers in Hull. The Faculty of Health Sciences includes a wide range of biomedical and applied health researchers. The creation of the Faculty two years ago presented an exciting opportunity to bring these areas into a more co-ordinated and effective alignment and to forge innovative research, teaching and enterprise collaborations.
A £28-million new health campus has provided state of the art facilities for both teaching and research. At its heart is the iconic five-storey Allam Medical Building, opened by HM The Queen in 2017. This houses the Institute for Clinical and Applied Health Research, which has been the focus of significant investment in academic staff and the establishment of strong methods and support infrastructure for researchers, including as trials unit and a methods hub. The Institute hosts three of our major research groups the Wolfson Centre for Palliative Care; Maternal and Reproductive Health and the Academy for Primary Care. All three of these groups are recognised for national and international excellence.
The post holder will provide strategic leadership for all the Faculty’s research activity. The post holder is responsible for assuring the research performance of the Faculty. The post holder will also champion and promote research within the Faculty.
Associate Deans provide institutional and academic leadership in the Faculties and the broader University, and as such they are expected to have and maintain an appropriate academic stature in an academic discipline commensurate with the academic activities of the Faculty, ideally at a professorial level.
