University of Liverpool - School of Health Science - Director, Liverpool Clinical Trials Centre (LCTC)
United Kingdom, Liverpool
Education - Other Administrative Positions
With an annual turnover of £480 million, including £102 million for research, Liverpool is the original ‘redbrick’ university and a member of the prestigious Russell Group, which comprises the leading research universities in the UK.
Led by our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer, the University is entering an exciting new era as we strive to maintain and enhance our dynamic reputation and performance in a rapidly evolving higher education environment. In order to help us achieve our ambitions, we are seeking to appoint a Director to head up a new and exciting initiative with global reach, the Liverpool Clinical Trials Centre (LCTC).
Liverpool has a long tradition of hosting major clinical trials across the whole range of health care. The trial portfolio is supported by NIHR funding and led by Chief Investigators both in Liverpool and elsewhere. This new role is one of leadership, to expand and strengthen our clinical research portfolio. It will draw on substantial Faculty investment and on the UKCRC fully registered Liverpool Clinical Trials Collaborative, comprised of our two existing and highly successful clinical trials units, the Liverpool Cancer Trials Unit (LCTU) and the Clinical Trials Research Centre (CTRC) which are to be merged to form the LCTC as part of a Faculty reorganisation.
We are seeking a Director for this Centre, which can deliver the planning, design, conduct and analysis of therapeutic and other clinical trials, spanning from first-in-man to large randomised trials, and other high-quality study designs.
Although the Director will be employed by the University of Liverpool, the forming of collaborative relationships with colleagues at local NHS Trusts and via national networks, will be an expectation. The post holder will be required to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.
Building on Liverpool’s significant achievements as a research powerhouse, you will be an exceptional professional joining our community of 5,500 talented staff, including 1,300 researchers, and 23,000 campus-based and online students.
The successful applicant will join an innovative University that is passionate about inspiring people to learn and achieve, that celebrates individuality and ingenuity, energy and enterprise, and is committed to enhancing both the student experience and our research excellence.
