NY, Albany
Healthcare - Other Administrative Positions

WittKieffer is pleased to partner with Albany Med as they seek a dynamic, distinguished executive to serve as its System Vice President, Supply Chain.

Albany Med is the largest locally governed health system in the region. The system includes the 734-bed Albany Medical Center Hospital, northeastern New York’s only academic health sciences center, Columbia Memorial Hospital, Saratoga Hospital, as well as the Albany Medical College, the region’s largest physician practice, and several outpatient locations. Albany Med is like no other health care provider in their region, providing their community with the highest level of patient care across disciplines, while receiving regional, national and international recognition for high standards in patient care, education and biomedical research.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance, the Vice President is responsible for the overall strategic direction and tactical execution of all aspects of supply chain at the system. The executive will create a contemporary and future-facing function, focused on cost containment, efficiency and best-in-class service. It will be important for this executive to implement and use data and metrics to bring more transparency to the supply chain function and to support decision-making. This individual will perform an overall assessment of the current System-wide supply chain including resources, structure and staff, in order to create a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, as well as identify and make any changes necessary that will better position supply chain to serve the current and future needs of the transforming organization.

The successful candidate must possess strong supply chain leadership and management experience within a progressive, complex and high-performing organization. Candidates should have demonstrated success and knowledge of contracting and purchasing, logistics and distribution models, and a record of accomplishment of effectively leveraging automation and technology. The executive must possess knowledge of efficient expense-management approaches, including sophisticated analysis, tracking and reporting of supply chain and cost-reduction initiatives. While content expertise is critical, one must have well-developed leadership skills. The candidate of choice must possess the skills necessary to establish credibility and a visible, proactive working relationship with executive and physician leadership across the system. A bachelor’s degree is required, with a master’s degree preferred.
