WittKieffer has been retained to conduct the search for the Vice President and Chief Information Officer (VPCIO) at Charleston Area Medical Center Health System (CAMC). This is an exceptional opportunity for a mission-driven, healthcare IT executive to join a highly regarded system focused on providing the highest level of health services to West Virginians. As a four hospital health system, CAMC prides itself on its status as a teaching institution and academic medical center. The role of the VPCIO will serve as a relatable and assessable technology partner to others internally, statewide and regionally as CAMC continues to service its markets and enhance its growing emphasis as an academic medical center.

The VPCIO is a key leadership position and will have a central role in supporting CAMC’s strategic priorities. The new leader will be a part of a strong organization that was recognized as the #1 hospital in West Virginia by U.S. News & World Report for 2019 and earned High Performance rankings in eight specialties. Additionally, they received the 2015 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. In 2019, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) named CAMC one of Healthcare’s Most Wired.

Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the VPCIO will be an essential part of a highly collaborative senior leadership team, facilitating the development of IT strategies to support the organization’s goals and to support clinical and business operations. The successful candidate will be catalyst for change, skilled in relationship building. The VPCIO will have a successful track record implementing and/or optimizing Cerner, Epic or another comparable system as well as senior IT leadership experience such as a CIO within a complex health system, preferably with a teaching hospital background. Additionally, the CIO should bring a passion for healthcare and technology, along with a visionary, system-thinking mindset of continuous improvement and innovation.
