The University of Akron seeks an accomplished and innovative leader to serve as its next senior vice president for finance/administration and chief financial officer (SVP/CFO). This executive will report directly to the university’s new president, Gary Miller, and will serve as a key member of the president’s leadership team in fulfilling the new administration’s exciting agenda for growth and success.

The University of Akron is one of Ohio’s most influential public urban research universities,  contributing to the vitality of the local economy and providing a workforce highly trained in diverse disciplines. UA offers nearly 20,000 students a wide variety of in-demand associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professional degree programs with a career-focused emphasis. As a STEM-intensive institution, UA has strong connections with industries such as polymers, advanced materials and engineering. UA brings together a diverse group of learners – full-time, part-time and online students, veterans, and adults returning to the classroom – enrolled across eleven colleges and schools at its campuses in northeast Ohio.

The University of Akron seeks a highly motivated and seasoned financial leader with the vision, experience, and management capabilities necessary to strengthen and advance the University’s finance and administration division. The SVP/CFO will set high expectations for performance and accountability, be a superb communicator with exceptional change management skills, and work collaboratively and transparently with colleagues in a spirit of partnership and fiscal responsibility. The SVP/CFO also works with various internal and external constituencies to improve the effectiveness of the University’s financial and business operations. The SVP/CFO provides leadership in the University’s efforts to become more innovative and strategic in its financial practices.
