The University of Maryland seeks an innovative, experienced and collaborative leader as its Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). Reporting directly to the president, the vice president for student affairs will galvanize campus leadership and stakeholders to collaborate around creative initiatives that elevate the student experience and permeate across the campus community. Central to these efforts will be the development of a close partnership with the provost, academic affairs and faculty colleagues to enhance the coherence of the Maryland experience for all students. The VPSA will provide vision, strategic direction and leadership for a division that includes the Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center for Campus Life; Conferences & Visitor Services; Counseling Center; Office of Development & External Relations; Dining Services; Fraternity & Sorority Life; Parent & Family Affairs; Department of Resident Life; Residential Facilities; Office of Student Conduct; University Career Center & The President’s Promise; University Health Center; University Recreation & Wellness and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
The successful candidate will be a visionary, strategic and creative leader who is skilled in understanding and utilizing proven strategies to navigate complex organization structures and holds a deep commitment to collaboration, relational leadership, external engagement and creative problem solving and thinking. The vice president will demonstrate exceptional administrative, financial and managerial acumen and possess a broad knowledge of current student affairs issues and trends. The vice president will display integrity, transparency and courage in behavior and decisions and demonstrate a deep commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion as a strategic priority. A doctoral degree and a proven record of broad and progressive senior-level higher education administrative management and leadership experience in the context of a large research university is strongly preferred.
